“Brandon Collins for City Council” committee formed, paperwork submitted

On Thursday, April 28 Brandon Collins submitted the “Statement of Organization for a Candidate” to the Charlottesville Electoral Board, along with his “Candidate Qualification” form.

The statement of organization is required for all candidates to receive donations, and to report donations and expenditures. The committee is named “Brandon Collins for City Council” and holds a bank account at the University of Virginia Community Credit Union.

Collins plans to use money if it comes in, but will not spend much time raising funds, preferring instead to organize in the community and engage residents on community issues. He notes however, that many people have expressed interest in contributing to the campaign and support for his candidacy has been immense since his announcement Monday, April 25.

The official declaration of candidacy paperwork alongside with 125 signatures still need to be filed by the candidate, but Collins indicates that won’t take long and he is enjoying hearing what signers have had to say so far about his platform.
